Cast Iron

Cast Iron bars are generally alloys that contain more than 2% carbon and from 1% to 3% silicon. Cast Iron bar is offered as grey iron and ductile types. The major difference in these types of cast iron is the shape and distribution of graphite in their micro structure. Continuous casting virtually eliminates porosity inclusion, burned on impurities, and surface flaws.

Spheroidal Graphite Iron is usually supplied as grade 400-15 which is a continuously cast iron, available in round bar or block. It offers good optimal impact, fatigue, electrical conductivity and magnetic permeability, also good noise and vibration dampening.

Meehanite is primarily supplied in grade 250 cast iron which is a continuously cast iron, available in round bar or block. It offers reasonable machine ability, excellent surface finishes and good noise and vibration dampening.

Cast Iron grades include BS2789 420/7 600/7, BS1452 Grade 220, 250, 260, Meehanite, Grey Iron, Spheroidal Graphite Iron SG Iron.
